Location : Amphoe Si Thep
Some 130 km south of Phetchabun on Highway
No. 21, and with another 9 km after a left turn, is the Si Thep
Historical Park. Si Thep is an ancient town where many architectural structures
still remain indicative of its past prosperity during the 11th-18th Buddhist
Centuries. It was once the centre of contact between the Dvaravati kingdom
in the Central Plain basin and the Khmer kingdom in the Northeast. A twin-city,
there were over one hundred ancient sites all built with bricks and laterite,
most of which have crumbled. There are also remains of several ponds spread
out all over the area. Most of the ancient relics recovered are parts of
architectural nature such as elaborate lintels, plastered designs and Sema
stone (used to mark out limits of Buddhist temples) and human skeletons
still adorned with ornamental pieces.
The Park is open daily from 08.30 am. - 04.30 pm.
Location : Amphoe Khao Kho
Khao Kho Sacrificial Monument is on the summit of Khao Kho, 1 km
after Than Itthi. It was built to honour the heroic deeds of the civilians,
soldiers, policemen and those who sacrificed their lives in the fight to
protect the connecting area of the 3 provinces; namely, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun
and Loei during 1968 – 1982. It is made of marble in a triangle shape with
a height of 24 metres. It represents the cooperative mission between the
civilians, soldiers, and policemen in 1981. The inside wall displays the
history of the Memorial and a name list of the people in the event.
Location : Amphoe Mueang
is
located on Phetcharat Rd., housing a Buddha image named Phra Buddha Maha
Thammaracha which has been existing along with Phetchabun. It is cast in
the ornamental Lopburi style which has been found by the city inhabitants
in the Pa Sak River in front of Wat Triphum and housed in this monastery.
Later on, this Buddha image disappeared and was found again at the bottom
of Pa Sak River at the very same location. Hence, it has become annual tradition
of Phetchabun that Phra Buddha Maha Thammaracha be celebrated in the procession
around the city, during Sart Thai Festival, until the procession arrives
at the spot where the Buddha image was found. The Governor of Phetchabun,
then, carries this Buddha image and dives into the river, an action believed
to bring well-being to the city inhabitants.
Location : Amphoe Mueang
Situated
in Mueang Phetchanbun municipality. This monastery is an ancient temple which
H.R.H. Prince Damrong presumed that this monastery might be constructed
during Sukhothai period. Wat Mahathat has the important objects of worship
such as, Phum Khao Binth styled pagoda has been presumed that it might be
constructed about B.E. 1926 (1383). This pagoda is a place that comprises
Buddha's relics, Orrahan's (saint) ashes, and small images of Buddha in
several styles. Two Buddha images of the U-Thong period whose laps are 36
inches wide. One is housed in the main chapel and the other is housed in
the vihara of Wat Mahathat.
Location : Amphoe Mueang
Wat Phra Kaeo is situated at Nai Mueang Sub-district. Originally, there
were three temples lining up; namely, Wat Phra Sing in the north, Wat Phra
Kaeo in the middle, and Wat Phra Suea in the south. Interesting monuments
are the chedi in Wat Phra Sing and the stupa in the shape of a carambola
in Wat Phra Kaeo. Moreover, there was a discovery of a Buddha image whose
age was assumed to be more than 700 years by the Fine Arts Department. Besides,
a treasure cell, containing earthen jars, Buddha images, and other important
things such as pottery, Buddha images cast in bronze and silver, gold sheets,
as well as, votive tablets made of baked clay in the Sukhothai style were
found.

Nasai or Wat Simongkon is located at Ban Nasai, Tambon Wangban. The mural
paintings on 4 walls of the chapel are regarded as ancient beautiful paintings
of the story of the Lord Buddha (10 Times Incarnation of the Lord Buddha)
and these paintings reflect the way of social life in each incarnation such
as occupation: hunting and fishing, marine trade, Chinese workers with pigtail
hair, hell and paradise paintings, etc.
Location : Amphoe Khao Kho
Phra Borommathat Chedi Kanchanaphisek is located on the summit of Khao Kho,
next to the Witchamai Punyaram monastic residence whose top contains the
relic of the Lord Buddha, brought from Sri Lanka. This chedi was constructed
by the people of Phetchabun as merit making for the King on the auspicious
occasion of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of His Majesty’s Accession
to the Throne. On important religious occasions such as Makha Puja Day,
people will regularly come to conduct a religious ceremony such as a candlelight
procession around the temple.

Wichian BuriKing Naresuan the Great Shrine is situated at Tha
Rong Sub-district. It is the enshrining venue of King Naresuan the Great
statue, constructed by the people of Wichian Buri to commemorate the king’s
honour in leading the troops to fight against the Khmer in this city. Their
Majesties the King and the Queen also participated in the worshipping ceremony
of King Naresuan the Great on 25 July, 1975. Every year, the District Office
will organise a ceremony to celebrate the establishment of this shrine on
the Royal Thai Armed Forces Day during 24-26 January.
Wat Wichian Bamrung
Location : Amphoe Wichian Buri
Wat Wichian Bamrung is located at Tha Rong Sub-district, near the Wichian
Buri District Office by taking Highway No. 21 (Lom Sak – Saraburi Route).
Within the compound of the temple is enshrined the biggest Wichian Buri
Rattana Mingmongkhon Reclining Buddha Image of the province, with a length
of 50 metres and height of 5 metres. The image lies outdoors facing towards
the east. It was cast of cement and painted in gold. The image contains
the relics of the Lord Buddha’s collarbone. Moreover, this temple is a location
of the statues of King Naresuan the Great, Phra Suphan Kanlaya – his sister,
and King Ekathotsarot – his brother. Besides, there is a Ruea Mat – a dredger
with top cover, which was an engraving piece of a large timber tree dating
to the Ayutthaya Kingdom with special characteristics. It was discovered
in the Pa Sak River.
Location : Amphoe Khao Kho
is
Phra Tamnak Khao Kho is located on Khao Ya Mountain. The palace was constructed
for the King on the occasion of his royal visit to observe the projects
from his royal initiatives, as well as, to visit the people in Khao Kho
district and the ones nearby. It is a concrete building in a semi-circle
shape with 15 rooms overall making it different from other places. Visitors
can ask officials for permission to visit the surroundings of the palace.
Tourists who travel by bus can rent a Song Thaeo at the entrance to Khao
Kho in the Camp Son area. At Km. 100, there is a minibus provided from 08.00
am. – 05.00 pm. Otherwise, a Song Thaeo can be rented at the Municipal
Market in Mueang Phetchabun.
Location : Amphoe Lomsak
This
monument is erected in memory of royal grace, bravery, firmness, sacrifice
and fame of King Pha Mueang who cooperated with King Bang Klang Thao, governor
of Mueang Bangyang, to defeat the Khmers out of Sukhothai, a major frontier
post of the Khmer Empire, and established it as the capital of Thai Kingdom.
King Pha Mueang also appointed King Bang KlangThao as King of Sukhothai Dynasty.
The Monument of King Pha Mueang is located in Pho Khun Pha Mueang Boyscout
Camp, 3 km from Lomsak District.

This
museum is located on the top of Khao Kho which was an important base of
cannon to support the battle. The museum displays old weapons.
The Nakhonban Phetchabun Cultural Hall

The Nakhonban Phetchabun Cultural Hall is a large auditorium hall for the
study concerning the history of Phetchabun. It can be divided into 2 parts.
The first part is an exhibition of some ancient pictures and antiques from
the Fine Arts Department in the various periods of the Phetchabun history.
The second part is a stage for performances and presentations on history,
traditions, and cultures of Phetchabun.

Sak District is the starting point to go to Phu Hin Rong Kla to the west.
As the route is quite steep, extreme care should be exercised in driving.
3Phu Hin Rong Kla is a popular destination located along the Phitsanulok
and Phetchabun borders and offers exotic scenery. It was once the base of
communists’ resurgents fighting against the government some twenty years
ago.

is a place of big swamp with nice atmosphere. It used to be called "Nong
Naree". It is situated on Naree Phattana Road, Mu.5 Tambol Sa-Kieng behind
indoor Stadium of Phetchabun, 2 km from Down town.
Tat Mok National Park
Location : Amphoe Bueng Sam Phan
has a huge waterfall fed by streams flowing down cracks and crevices of
the mountains creating a beautiful 12-level fall. On both sides of the trails
leading up to it are large, shady trees providing a pleasant surrounding.
To reach the park, take off from town past the town hall to the east for
some 15 km to Ban Chaliang Lap. Then take a right turn onto Highway
No. 2275. After just 300 metres is a left fork leading to an access on to
steep slope for a distance of 20 km. From here another 1.8 km
on foot to arrive at the waterfall.

The
Nam Nao National Park is an immense tract of forest still in perfect condition.
With pineries, grasslands and virgin jungles, it is habitat to large number
of animals and more than 100 species of birds. During December-January,
the mercury could drop to as low as 2-5 Lom Sak district on Highway NO.12.
Points of interest are spread out.
Attractions reached by taking Highway NO.12 (Lom Sak-Chumphae)

Tham Pha Hong

metres off the main road at Km. 39 to the north. Within the caves are formations
of stalactites and stalagmites. It is also a point from which to view the
scenery at sunset.
Phu Kum Khao Pinery

of about 10 sq km
Haew Sai & Sai
Thong Waterfallsare
both located on the same route and can be reached on foot for a distance
of 1 km and 1.5 km respectively off the main road at km 67. There are
also attractions on Highway NO.2216 (Lomkao-Huay Sanam Sai)such as Pha Lom-Pha
Kong cliffs which are 5 km from the main road at Km.40 and the Tham yai

Location
: Amphoe Mueang

It
was created by the dam constructed to block the waterway to the west of
town for irrigation purposes. Some 8 km from town on Highway NO.2006,
it is a pleasant place for recreation and picnic with scenic natural views
in the background, particularly in the morning and late afternoon.
Si Dit Waterfall
Location : Amphoe Khao Kho
Namtok Si Dit is a large single-tiered waterfall with water running
throughout the year. It was once a stronghold of the Communist Party of
Thailand. An interesting thing at this place is a rice mortar whose
power came from the waterfall constructed by the communist groups. To
get there: Take Highway 2196 to km 17 and turn right
into Highway 2325 for 10 km then turn right into the waterfall.
Thap Boek
Location : Amphoe Lom Kao
Thap Boek is located at Mu 14, Wang Ban Sub-district. It is a Hmong village.
Geographically, it lies at the 1,768 metres above sea level claimed as the
highest point of Phetchabun Province. It is mountainous from the starting
point up to the village with chilly climate throughout the year. It is also
a reservation venue for the rain used in the ceremony of casting a spell
onto the holy water for the Celebrations on the Auspicious Occasion of His
Majesty the King’s 72nd Birthday Anniversary 5th December 1999. At Ban Thap
Boek, vegetables, especially cabbage, will be planted with no watering due
to 2 seasons; namely, the rainy season and winter. Moreover, when the mountain
top is filled with Cherry blossoms from December till January, it is also
the best season to travel.
Location : Amphoe Nong Phai
This waterfall is located at Ban Sab Chom Phoo, Mu.8, Tambon Ban Phot. It
is a big waterfall with plenty of water in rainy season and little water
in summer The waterfall is amid the evergreen forest. The surrounding also
makes it a pleasant spot for picnic.
Sunflower Blossom on the Mountain at Bueng Sam Phan
Location : Amphoe Wichian Buri
Bueng Samphan covers the area of Ban Khao Phluang and Ban Pa Yang, Sa Kaeo
Sub-district, where there is sunflower planting on Phukhao Luang, covering
an area of more than 10,000 rai. In the morning when the sunflowers are
in bloom, this mountain will become a spectacular golden sunflower field.
In December, Bueng Sam Phan District will organise the event “Sunflower
Blossom on the Mountain at Bueng Sam Phan”. In the event, there will be
a contest of the largest sunflower, a sunflower beauty contest, the preservation
of sunflower seeds, and sales of agricultural produce.
Ban Phu Toei Hot Spring Park
Location : Amphoe Wichian Buri
Ban Phu Toei Hot Spring Park is located at Mu 2, Phu Toei Sub-district,
on Highway No. 21 (Saraburi - Lom Sak Road). It is a natural hot spring,
emerging to the surface. The area has been developed into a health tourism
attraction and a relaxing venue. There are daily services of mineral water
bathing, spa, body massage, and foot massage provided from 09.00 am. – 08.00
pm.
Kaeng Bang Rachan
Location : Amphoe Khao Kho
Located at Ban
Nong Mae Na. Kaeng Bang Rachan, the destination for eco-tourists, provides
a set for paddling amongst the tranquility nature of Khek River Source.
"Rua E-pong" , a traditional paddle boat is used as means of transportation.
Trip to Kaeng Bang Rachan is organised anually every dry season (March-May)
by the local community. The hilight of the trip is to experience "Freshwater
Jellyfish" (Crasapedacusta Sowerby), which is presently found in only few
countries of USA, Russia, UK, Japan and Thailand. It would be seen only
in sunlight, so as a reason, the appropriate time to visit is between 10.00 am.
- 16.00 pm. Moreover, there are some species of rare butterfly can be seen
here such as Kaiser, Troides helena, Euploea, etc.
Location : Amphoe Khao Kho
This farm is located on Lom Sak-Phitsanulok Road at km 100 where a 3 km
access road branches off to the farm. It is very famous for cultivation
of cold weather vegetables in 1,000 rai area such as lettuce, onion, carrot,
egg plant, Japanese cucumber, parsley, broccoli and lychee. Strawberry is
very famous for its fresh and good taste. There are also many colorful flowers
such as Carnation, Gladiolus, Ester etc
