Ban Rong Hi
Ban Rong Hi (ancient building)
Location : Amphoe Mueang
Ban Rong Hi is large ancient community located near Kwan Phayao,
as a part of Wat Tilok Aram. In ancient time,
there were many religious places approximately 8 – 9 places
which include Ban Rong Hi ancient building, Tambon Mae Sai,
Amphoe Muang, and evidence concerning Wat Tilok Aram
which found at Kwan Phayao near Rong Hi village.
Ancient House (100 years)
Location : Amphoe Mueang
There are 2 ancient houses with the same condition as
ancient time located side of Kwan Phayao
which has to ask the permission from the house-owner before visiting.
Wiang Lor Ancient Building
Location : Amphoe Chun

Wiang Lor Ancient Building
The location of building is far from center of Chun district from highway no. 1021 to Ban Huay Ngew for 17 kilometers
and has walking route to Ban Nam Chun for 12 kilometers.
This appeared the ancient city gate and many old temples, the old ancient relic of Buddha
and temple is Wat Sri Ping-Muang, Muang Lor or Wiang Lor, with canal
and levee 1 – 2 levels surrounded which located between hill of Doi Jik-Jong and Ing River.
Religious Sites
Wat Analayo Thipphayaram
Location : Amphoe Mueang
Wat Anal Yothippyaram (Doi Bussarakam), Buddhist park was located far from the main province for 20 kilometers,
travelled by highway no. 1 to the north straight to Mae Jai district about 7 kilometers
and turn left to highway no. 1127 and 1193.
In case of heading to the south, travelling straight to Ngaw district, Lampang,
the 4th kilometer at Mae Tum intersection and turn right to highway no. 1193.
The temple was located in Ban San Pabong, Moo 6, Muang Phayao with the area 2,800 rai,
established by Pra Paiboon Samungkalo. During the establishment,
there was the phenomenon occurred; the golden sand flowed to cover the temple as gold became the gold light
which this event still present until now especially in Buddhist day.
After considering the location of the temple, it is appropriate for establishing the practice Dharma school.
Wat Pra Thad Jom Thong (Relic of the Buddha)

Wat Anal Yothippyaram
Location : Amphoe Mueang
Pra Thad Jom Thong is a pagoda created as Lanna styled
with 30 meters height standing on triangle based width 9 meters supported a bell. The top of Pra Thad
is the gold state and the base was created with the 12-year cycles decorated and Thai design decoration
which is very beautiful. The feature of Pra Thad Jom Thong is similar to Pra Thad Hari Punchai, Lumpun.
The location of temple is on the hill opposite to Wat Sri Khomkham, travelled by highway no. 1 head towards
Mai Jai district for 2.5 kilometers and turn left to pass the library for 300 meters to arrive the temple
which located in the side.
Wat Rajkrueh
Location : Amphoe Mueang
Wat Rajkrueh or Wat Mai located in the center of Amphoe Muang,
the atmosphere within temple is shady consists of the pagoda
which is not large but very beautiful. The remarkable temple pointed as
Khong arch gate and beautiful pagoda; Khong arch gate decorated with the model of fay,
naga and flower, the top of gate designed as the 4 faced-Brahma.
The pagoda, located behind of Buddha temple, is designed as
octagon reduced corner size with 20 meters height;
there are Buddist arch and 4 directions of satellite standing on triangle base,
prataksina around pagoda with 1.5meters width of each,
have the glass wall surround, with 4 entrance gates
and lion model stand in every gate, this subjects as
the beautiful Lanna styled pagoda of Muang Phayao.
Wat Si Khom Kham

Wat Pra Thad Jom Thong
Location : Amphoe Mueang
The Phayao’s symbol with Pra Chao Ton Luang represents the national treasure
of Pra Chao Ton Luang with Phayao and refers to the speech
“Do not worship Pra Chao Ton Luang in Phayao seem not to arrive Phayao”.
Pra Chao Ton Luang has been called as Pra Nung Din (Buddha standing on land)
because of the character of Pra Chao Ton Luang which sit directly on land
without any stand similar to other Buddha’s character.
In Visakha Bucha Festival,there is great mass day of
Phayao’s villagerswhich called Pad Peng Festival.
The activity in this festival is to worship Pra Chao Ton Luang.
Wat Tilok Aram
Location : Amphoe Mueang
Tilok Aram Temple is located in the island centered of Kwan Phayao which stands by Luang Por Sila.
This temple had been underneath over 500 years and refers to the evidence from a stone inscription,
the king of Chiang Mai (King Tilokkarad) commanded to Chao San Hua (King of Muang Phayao)
to establish this temple in 1476 – 1486 for offering to greatest king. Then, the effect from war and
a biggest flood, there is an invitation of Luang Por Sila from Sri U-Mong Kham
Temple to stand in Wat Tilok Aram.
Wat Pra Thad Jom Sin

Wat Pra Thad Khing-Khang
Location : Amphoe Dok Kham Tai
The Buddha temple was established in 1995, designed as art of Lanna;
ladder decorated with the statue of Buddha,
god and swan, doors and windows were decorated with the story of Buddha history.
Within Buddha temple, there is a major Buddha in meditation characteristic,
with 5 meters width. Moreover, this decorated with mural paintings concerning Buddha history,
stories of Buddhist including the lifestyle and play of Thai children.
Pra Thad Jom Sin located behind the Buddha temple,
with ladder for 69 steps decorated with naga statue. The pagoda in temple decorated
with the art of Lanna, has the stand 8 meters width,
20 meters height which can see the scenery of Muang Dok-Kham-Tai from this point.
Wat Pra Thad Khing-Khang
Location : Amphoe Chun
This ancient temple is important of Amphoe Chun which is far from the center of Chun district for 8 kilometers,
located in highway no. 1091, Chun – Pong. Before the Ban Thad-Khing School,
the visitor will found the right route to the temple which drive for 200 meters,
will found the temple in left side located in the hill.
Pra Thad Khing-Khang is pagoda designed as Lanna,
with 15 meters width, 20 meters height, placed in glass covered,
in the middle of pagoda was decorated with colored mirror,
has glass wall surrounded for 4 sides.
Wat Nuntaram

Wat Pra Nung Din
Location : Amphoe Chiang Kham
Wat Nuntaram located in the municipal market of Tambon Chiang Kham
and there is no any evidence concerning the year of establishment,
this temple is respectable of Thai-Yai which firstly called
‘Wat Chong Kha’ (Chong is Thai-Yai language means temple).
Por Mhong contributed land area over 3 rai to establish the temple,
with Por Thao Ubon acted as main of establishment.
Mostly called this temple as ‘Wat Chong Nhue’ because
the temple locate in the north of municipal of Chiang Kham,
then there was the establishment of wooden Buddha temple in 1924
which the land was contributed by Mae Nang Jam Hueng for 5 rai,
1 ngan and 72 square wah for expanding the area of temple lead the temple
has totally area 8 rai 1 ngan and 72 square wah.
Wat Pra Nung Din
Location : Amphoe Chiang Kham
There is no stand as base which actually used to establish the base
but cannot raise up so called Pra Nung Din (Buddha sitting on land).
Refer to the legend, this Buddha was established in era of Buddha
which means that Pra Nung Din has more than 2,500 years.
This spent 1 month and 7 days for establishing the Buddha.
Wat Pra Thad Sob Wan

Wat Prathaddoikham
Location : Amphoe Chiang Kham
There are many interesting things; house of Thai Lhue, 100 years old of Jamjuree,
pagoda which over 800 years old. The village of Thai Lhue has handicraft
for cloths which let visitors to buy and study the method of producing clothes
including study the life style. Pra Thad Sob Wan located in behind of Buddha temple
which contained the relic of Buddha. Pra Thad had been maintenance for many times
and constructed as art of Lanna, triangle based, white colored pagoda,
golden bell and golden top of pagoda, with the glass wall surrounded,
has statue of lion for 4 sides. The entrance also has another 2 statues of lion,
white bell hall decorated with statue of swan and peacock and small piece of mirrors.
The name of temple refer to there is 2 rivers; Wan River and Hong River pass
and meet as a river so called as Sob Wan (‘sob’ in Thai means meet).
Wat San Muang Ma
Location : Amphoe Chiang Kham
The name of this temple came from name of village in China.
The temple was established as the art of Thai Lhur,
the board in temple has both Thai and Chinese language
and assumes that the temple was established in era of early Rattanakosin.
The roof of temple was wooden, carving as Dheva, ladder with the statue of naga,
the gate has the statue of lion, included mural painting.
Within temple describes the lifestyle of Thai Lhur, priesthood, merit,
water pouring in Songkran Festival and other traditional. Moreover,
there is flag (Tung) hanging because believe
that lead the dead persons can go to the route of paradise.
Wat Pra Thad Doi Kham
Location : Amphoe Chiang Kham
Wat Pra Thad Doi Kham located on the top of Doi (or mountain),
Tambon Jadee Kham, Amphoe Chiang Kham, the transportation was supported
with the road until the pagoda. The important of temple was Pra Thad Doi Kham
with the art of Lanna, statue of lion for 4 sides,
sanctuary of Muang Chiang Kham for long time.
Wat Phra That Doi Yuak

Wat Tah Fah Tai
Location : Amphoe Pong
Location is on the hill with peaceful environment by
which is the important temple of Amphoe Pong.
The structure is also beautiful from gold pagoda
that was the specific culture design of Phayao.
There are four arch of Buddha temple on the top
with contain Buddha image along four direction.
The design of arch and big bell base are comprise of coloring mirrors.
The top umbrella is made by gold and other four corners have satellite pagodas beside.
The Buddha image hall is in Lanna cultural design,
not too big but shameful by the northern culture design.
The roof consists of many pieces of round board lay into cascade scales.
The gable on front carved into flower patterns,
toothlike ridges on the sloping edges of the gable are in gold,
the end ridges was the green carved wood into Phaya Nak.
The battlement were in carved wood also,
that all twelve symbolic of the zodiac and elephant pattern.
In the Buddha’s legend that said,
Buddha has came to Doi Phu Term and Phaya Nak who is the curer this hill,
thinking that the Buddha is garuda.
So, he hideout but after listened to the teaching of Buddha,
he was respected then Buddha gave him the piece of Buddha’s hair
and Buddha also commanded to Phra Arnont the disciple that after the death of Buddha,
lets Buddha’s relics of the right edge of the eye bundles to those pieces of hair
and keep it in this area. After that, there was Phra That Phu Term established in this area,
then tit called Phra That Doi Yuak later.
Wat Prathat Phu Sang
Location : Amphoe Phu Sang
Another tourist attract located on the right intersection 1 km.
before Phu Sang national park office. This temple is the north cultural heritage
that are respected and worshiped by Phu Sang and people around area.
This is the peaceful place comprises of many big trees
and also be the treatment area for drug addicts and AIDs patients.
Additionally, this is the Thai herbal garden for learning in the silent
and beautiful sightseeing around area.
Wat Tah Fah Tai
Location : Amphoe Chiang Muan
The beautiful Thai Lue cultural style temple,
Buddha’s image temple was mason structure in Thai Lue design.
The roof consists of many pieces of round board lay into 3 cascade scales.
The gable on front carved into the bunch of vine in Thai Lue natural applied patterns.
Monuments
Por Khun Ngum Muang Monument
Location : Amphoe Mueang
Phayao was promoted as the 7th province of Thailand in 1977. This
leads Phayao’s people to collaborate establishing the monument at the park near Phayao Lake (or Kwan Phayao).

Por Khun Ngum Muang Monument
with 2.5 meters length stands with facing to Kwan Phayao,
wear king suit and hand with sword. Por Khun Ngum Muang was respected by
many people lead the monument was crowed especially in Loy Kratong.
Colonel Sacrificed Monument 1781
Location : Amphoe Chiang Kham
The place is green pentagon pillar, semi-circle filed in front of the exhibition hall
which presents the soldiers’ pictures, weapon, bomb and medical supplies including the name list of soldiers
and policemen amount 399 persons who fight to communists in 1967 – 1982 in area of Phayao and Chiangrai.
There is model of battlefield which presents the batter violently, present the landscape of each area, i.e.
Amphoe Pong and Amphoe Chiang Muan with the base of battle in Doi Pha Chi, Doi Pha Chang Noi,
Doi Phu Lungkha and Doi Nam Sa, etc. This monument is for studying the history and
to recognize the sacrifice of soldiers and policemen. This place located far from Amphoe Chiang Kham for 3 kilometers on highway no.
1021 direct to Amphoe Chun, the monument was left side.
Opening Hours : Mon - Sat from 9.00 - 12.00 am. and 01.00 pm. - 04.00.pm.
Museums
Nithat Cultural Hall
Location : Amphoe Mueang
Nithat Cultural Hall was located near Wat Srikhomkham,
represented as museum of an antique and important historical document of Phayao.
There are many rooms to represent the history;
Khun Chueng’s room (the 2nd king of Phu Kamyao) shows the event before kingdom,
Praya Ngum Muang’s room shows the relationships of 3 kings (Paya Ruang of Sukhothai era,
Paya Meng Rai of Lanna kingdom and Paya Ngum Muang of Phu Kamyao kingdom), pottery room,
Phayao room shows the prosperity and disaster era of Phayao, room represented Phayao’s way of life,
including represent the history of Pra Chao Ton Luang and various stone inscription.

Thai Lue Cultural Centre
Location : Amphoe Chiang Kham
hai Lue Cultural Centre is located at Wat Yuan. The Thai Lue people are peaceful, diligent,
patient, and conservative in their culture and traditions such as costumes, housing style,
culinary matters, etc. This centre has been established to display the pieces of arts and
culture, especially the colourful and elaborately designed Thai Lue fabrics in various patterns
such as Lai Dok Kho Khruea, Lai Dok Kho, Lai Ma and Lai Dok Tang, as well as, to professionally
train the Thai Lue people.

Morning Market

The market located in municipal area and acts as the native market which
offers the northern fresh food, i.e. mushroom, fresh vegetable,
native breakfast (coffee, hot sticky rice with fried pickled fish,
pickled fish covered egg), many kinds of fish from Kwan Phayao.
Chiang Kham Morning Market
Location : Amphoe Chiang Kham
The morning market in Chiang Kham is in simply style.
It located near to district office and post office.
There are many native foods; also the famous fermented pork rib is here.
Before go sightseeing at Phra That or Thai Lue village,
it is the recommend place to visit for food shopping, local coffee shop,
fresh soy milk around the market which is the highlight of Chiang Kham morning market.
Thai-Laos boundary Market Fair (Baan Huak)
Location : Amphoe Chiang Kham
Baan Huak is the frontier village beside to Laos, 5 km. distance from Phu Sang national park office.
Almost area is hill with Puey canal pass through for villager use.
Baan Huak is the small village that consists of 150 households.
The area beside to Laos is Chaiburi district which in B.E. 2537,
the temporarily permitted area at Kew Hok,
Baan Huak was opened then Thai-Laos boundary market affair occurred.
Trading products are almost agricultural goods.
Natural Attractions

Kwan Phayao
Jampathong Waterfall
Location : Amphoe Mueang
Jampathong Waterfall was located in Doi Luang National Park
which has the area covered 3 provinces;
Chiangrai, Phayao and Lampang. The office of national park was located in Chiangrai
but the waterfall was located in Amphoe Muang, Phayao.
The transportation from Pratuchai intersection uses the highway no. 1
and direct to Mae Jai district, the 7th kilometer
and turn to the left with highway no. 1127, pass Wat Tum Mong
and Wat Tum Klang for 500 meters will found the crossroad.
Then, turn left for 4 kilometers will found the Nation Park Protection Dor Lor 6 (Jumpathong)
which waterfall will far from this for 350 meters.
The waterfall is far from Muang district for 23 kilometers located in Ban Tum Klang,
Tambon Tum, Amphoe Muang. Ban Tum Nai located near the waterfall is famous concerning the forest conservation
and has been promoted as the forest community. The forest is plentiful
and acts as the water source of Kwan Phayao.
Jumpathong waterfall is large and no any water shortage.
The waterfall consists of 6 levels but the most beautiful is 2nd
and 3rd level and there are many basins which is able to swim
and has the natural route to study for 2.2 kilometers spent 2 hours
for walking through the dried tropical rain forest.
Kwan Phayao (Phayao Lake)

Nhong Leng Sai
The northern language “Kwan” means deep river or whirlpool.
Phayao Lake is the 3rd biggest lake in Thailand followed by Bueng Borapetch (Nakornsawan)
and Nong Harn (Sakolnakorn), respectively. Even though Kwan Phayao is 3rd largest lake in Thailand,
but Kwan Phayao is the largest source of fresh water in upper north with 12,831 rai.
In past dry season lead Kwan Phayao has 2 basins; Kwan Luang and Kwan Noi. In contrast,
a flood covered the overall area in flood season, and then Fisheries Department constructed a dam
to obstruct Ing River in 1941,this makes Kwan Phayao has stable level of water with average 1.5 meters depth
and also acts as largest inland fishery station in the north.
Kwan Phayao also discovers the breeding of giant-catfish in 1983
which is the first discoverer of the world.
Nhong Leng Sai
Location : Amphoe Mae Chai
The visitor can travel by highway no. 1 direct to the north, Phayao – Chiangrai until Sri Bun Ruang intersection,
turn right to Paholyothin Road for 1 kilometer will found Wat Photharam in left side,
then turn left until end of route will found Nhong Leng Sai. Nhong Leng Sai has area approximately 5,500 rai covered many distric;
Tamon Pa Fhag, Tambon Sri Toi, Tambon Mae Jai and Tambon Ban Lhao.
Nhong Leng Sai has supported the source of water for the agriculture,
fishery, pasturage and also the recreation place which has many food shops.
Wiang Lor Wild Life Reservation Areas
Location : Amphoe Chun
This covers 4 districts; Amphoe Dok-Kham-Tai, Amphoe Chun,
Amphoe Chiang Kham and Amphoe Pong with area 231,873 rai.
The area is tropical rainforest with plentifully forest
and also has many activities concerning natural; during May – December,
the visitor can see the area for peacock breeding;
during March – April, there is activity of trail of brown-antlered deer.

Shrine of the City Pillar
Phang-ta
Location : Amphoe Chiang Muan
Phang-ta is situated within the joint between Nampi Forest and Mae-yom/ Nam-kuan Forest next
to Baan Chaiyasathan Moo 4, Tambon Chiang-muan, Phayao Province. Phang-ta looks like Pae-muang-pi
of Prae Province, originating from soil erosion at the site of a low mountain, leaving some 25-meter-high
pointed soil-pillars connecting for an approximate distance of 200 meters. The geographical condition
of Phang-ta consists of mountains and a laterite road connecting to Baan Chaiyasathan.
Meanwhile, the surrounding areas of Phang-ta (approximately 3 rai) connecting to agricultural lands
of Baan Chaiyasathan villagers on the mountaintop of Phang-ta, can be developed as sightseeing spots
and recreational sites due to their flatness and beautiful scenery.

Phayao - Shrine of the City Pillar

Inland Fishery Station
Location : Amphoe Mueang
The shrine of city pillar of Phayao located in side of Kwan Phayao surrounded by road with 4 sides,
near Wat Sri U-mongkham,Wat Rajkrueh, from Pratuchai Road
and turn left to Kwan Phayao allows visitors to see the shrine of city pillar
which is very beautiful in both day and night time.
Phayao Fresh-water Fishery Station
Location : Amphoe Mueang
Inland Fishery Station is important of the north which has the breeding of fish
for distributing to people as their occupation and for releasing into river.
The important achievement of Inland Fishery Station is the discovery of breeding of giant-catfish in 1983
which is the first discoverer of the world, therefore within the station
also located the giant-catfish museum for studying.
Huay Chompoo – Pha Dhevada Reservoir
Location : Amphoe Dok Kham Tai
The reservoir located in area of Wiang Lor wild life reservation area;
there are many activities and tourist places, for example to roam about a forest, climbing the cliff,
travel at waterfall including sunflower field especially in winter season during November – February.
The sunflower field in Tambon Sun Khong is very beautiful
and attractive to the tourists because of the good scenery; field surrounded by many mountains
which is appropriate to take a photo and record as the good memory.
Ban Pang Pu Loh

Pang Kah Royal Project Development Center
Location : Amphoe Mae Chai
This is the village of hill tribe called ‘Mean’ or ‘Yao’, most has lichee garden and coffee farm,
with beautiful scenery, good weather, convenient travelling with the good road.
If any tourists desire to rest should prepare food and drink. This place located in Tambon Sri Toi,
Amphoe Mae Jai which is far from the center of Mae Jai distric for 12 kilometers,
travelled by highway no. 1, direct to Amphoe Mae Jai. If arrive Wat Sri Bun Ruang,
turn left to the road besides the temple for 12 kilometers will found Ban Bang Pu Loh.
The interesting is the cultural building of ‘Mean’ or ‘Yao’ which represents the consumable,
costume, agricultural tolls, hunting tools including the history of this village.
The growing of lichee switching with the coffee is also interesting
which both are famous products of Mae Jai
and let the visitors to visit the farm during May – June
which allows having fresh lichee from the tree or distributing at cheap price.
Pang Kah Royal Project Development Center
Location : Amphoe Pong
The development area for highland agriculture with an attraction on highland plant
that was cultivated along the mountain slope. Almost plants are annual crops and perennial plant;
Japanese pumpkin, Zucchini, Japanese bunching onion, black stem eggplant, red ginger, avocado,
peach and plum. Moreover, there is the various flowers cultivation in the beautiful sightseeing view
with comfortably cool climate along the year. Nearby area are Mong and Mian (or Yao) tribes,
tourists can visit their villages and if it is in the traditional period,
we can see the way of life and the hill tribes’ culture.
