Phae Muang Phi
Location : Amphoe Muang
Phae Muang Phiis regarded as Thailand's Grand Canyon and is located about 18 kms. from the town on highway 101. Muang Phi (Thai meaning "the City of Ghosts") is noted for its fantastic rock formations. Some local villagers still believe that this area is haunted by phantoms. It is a quiet place and nobody wants to live around here. However, it is well worth a visit for those who appreciate spectacular natural rock formations. Muang Phi is actually a shallow depression in the ground where soil erosion has produced strange chimnet-like shapes that gives the impression of dwelling on some alien planet.
Wat Luang
Location : Amphoe Muang
Near the Wat Luang on Kham Lue Road in town is an ancient and principal temple built at the same .time Phrae was established. Several restoration works have taken place. Some of its major features include the Vihan and Chiang Saen-style Chedi enshrining a Holy Relic brought over from Myanmar. Others are the museum housing various antiquities including several 500-year-old Buddha statues and an ancient Lanna-style wooden structure.
Phra That Phra Lo
Location : Amphoe Song
Near the This is a 400-year-old Chedi believed to contain the remains of a king named Phra Lo, ruler of Nakhon Maen Suang once located in the vicinity. It is said he died together with his two lovers, Phra Phuean and Phra Phaeng, which gave rise to the legend of a folklore. The Chedi itself is at Tambon Ban Klang, Song district on Highway No. 103 some 45 kilometres north of the provincial town.
City Pillar Shrine
Location : Amphoe Muang
Near the The City Pillar Shrine of Phrae, situated on Khum Deom Road in town centre, features an inscription stone with ancient Thai scripts of the Sukhothai period describing the construction of a temple in the town. Location : Amphoe Muang
Wat Chorm Sawanis Just one kilometre from the townhall on Yantrakit Koson Road is Wat Chom Sawan, a Burmese architectural style temple. The building which combines the hall for conducting religious rituals and monk's living quarters is beautifully decorated both in its interiors and exteriors.

The over-lapping roofs are adorned with fine fretworks. Antiquities found here include marble Buddha statues, statues made of woven bamboos coated with lacquer, and Buddha statues made from ivory, as well as ivory scripture slabs with Burmese scripts.

Located on Nam Khu Road next to the city moats is Wat Sa Bo Kaeo, a temple with several exotic Burmese artistic-styled structures and Buddha statues. It is also where Burmese monks who travel to Thailand to study the Buddhist scripture stay. Location : Amphoe Muang
Wat Phrathat Chohae This temple is about 8 kilometres to the east of town on Highway No. 1022. A major religious site of the province, it was built since the time of Sukhothai. The 33 metre-tall Chiang Saen-style Chedi houses a Holy Relic. It was built of bricks and covered with bright brass sheets. The name of the temple refers to fine silk woven in Sip Song Panna (in southern China) which was first used to wrap around the Chedi when the temple was first constructed. There is a fair celebrating the Chedi in March every year.
Wat Phra Non
Location : Amphoe Muang
Near the To the west of Wat Luang is Wat Phra Non near the site of the old city walls. Some of the architectural works include the Chiang Saen-style Ubosot with narrow openings to let in light instead of normal windows. The lintel is made of wood with graceful designs. The eaves over the Vihan are all fretted, a symbol of northern architecture. Inside is a 9 metre-long plaster Reclining Buddha.
Wat Phra Bat Ming Mueang
Location : Amphoe Muang
Near the Wat Phra Bat Ming Muang, located on Charoen Nakhon Road near the townhall, was built in 1955 by combining two ancient temples. There is an old Chedi containing a replica of the Holy Footprint inside.
Wat Phra That Suthon Mongkhon Khiri
Location : Amphoe Den Chai
Near the Three kilometres from Den Chai district, or some 2 kilometres from the provincial town, is Wat Phra That Suthon Mongkhon Khiri. Although a comparatively modern temple, it boasts highly eye-catching structures. The Ubosot in particular is noted for its delicate sculptures with fine designs. There is also the golden teak structure in the Lanna-style which houses valuable relics of the North, including Buddha statues, lacquerware, Lanna musical instruments, ancient weapons and pictures depicting past events. Near the town on Phrae-Sung Men road, in the same area as Baan Fai restaurant, that museum is a replica of the houses of the people existing about 100 years ago. Location : Amphoe Muang
is located in town, and was built at the same time that the town was founded. Wat Luang means big or grand temple. A cultural center, on the grounds are several revered ruins like the holy pagoda, and a venerable Buddha statue. This Buddha is graceful and built in the Chiang Saen style. There is also a museum containing many valuable and holy relics and antiques such as Buddha images, porcelain objects, and ancient swords and armor. The museum is open only Saturday from 09.00 A.M. - 04.00 P.M.
Ban Fai Folklore Museum
Location : Amphoe Muang
Near the The Folklore Museum, in the same compound as the Ban Fai garden restaurant three kilometres from town on the Phrae-Sung Men road, is made up of several buildings and wooden structures displaying exhibits on the local way of life. The different types of wooden houses demonstrate the different statuses of the local people. There are also market and shop-houses of the past. Pong Sri Village

Pong Sri Villageis Ban Pong Si at Tambon Thin of Muang district is a village which collects and exchanges second-hand household utensils for daily use. It also sells silver products. Location : Amphoe Muang
is only 6 kms. from town. As soon as you arrive, you can hear the sound of metal being worked in every home. There are 662 families in Rong Fong Village, and 90% of the men work as blacksmiths making knives, hand scythes, picks and spades. Also 95% of the women are seamstress making pants, and shirts. Produce intricate and beautiful designs both in cotton and silk. This cottage industry may be found in homes throughout Baan Natum, Baan Namon and Baan Hua Thung. Location : Amphoe Muang
Tung Hong VillageThis is a village located in Muang district area about 3 kms. away on highway No. 101. It is renowned for its good quality "Mohom" farmer shirts in cotton fabric, the favorite local product purchased by tourists in Phrae. Location : Amphoe Sung Men
Located in Amphoe Sung men is a center of woodcarving and other teakwood products.
Rong Fong Village
Location : Amphoe Muang
Near the Village Rong Fong specialises in making metal agricultural tools using traditional production method. The village can be reached by taking Highway No.101 (Phrae-Nan) with a turn into Highway No. 1101 leading to Rong Fong.
Fabric Weaving Village
Location : Amphoe Long
Near the Long District, some 45 kilometres the provincial town on Highway No. 1023, is the site of a centuries-old community since the time of Hariphunchai Period. The local people are skilled in the craft of weaving, both silk and cotton. The art of making the Tin Chok fabric in particular has been handed down from generation to generation.

Its design has also been developed to meet with new and different preferences, although the original method has been retained. A fair celebrating the Tin Chok is held annually in Long district around November.

Pha Tab Jai House
Location : Amphoe Muang
Located in town is the biggest-Thai-style house constructed with over 130 teak logs in 1976. Each log is about 300 years old. Inside are elaborate northern-style woodcarving.

Hua Dong Market
About 9 kilometres to the south of town on Highway No. 101 in Sung Men district is the Hua Dong Market. It is the centre of products made from wood and rattan, mostly household furnitures and decorative items.
Thung Hong Village
About 4 kilometres away on Highway No. 101 (Phrae-Nan) is Ban Thung Hong, a village noted for the making of products made from Mo Hom material. It is a local cotton fabric dyed in blue which is used in making native and modern wears. Location : Amphoe Muang
Vongburi Houseis locted in town, and was built in 1897 by Phra Buritah who was the past lord of Phrae for presentation to his daughter: Chao Sunantha and son in law : Luang Pongpiboon. The house is now still in family hands. It is a teak 2 - storey Thai - European style fine architectural house. An outstanding feature is elaborate woodcarving decorations both inside and outside. These woodcarving were originally built with the house. Inside the house are the family's old descended household articles e.g. furniture, silverware, earth ware, and important documents. The house was awarded "an excellent conservation of the year 1993" by the Society of Siam Architecture under Royal Patronage and published in famous magazines e.g. Tourism Authority of Thailand Magazine, Sawasdee, Heritage Home of Thailand etc.
The house is open to the public daily from 8.30 A.M to 5.00 P.M. with a permission charge of 20 Baht/person. Location : Amphoe Long
Doi Phaklong National Parkis located on the side of highway No.1023 about 20 kms. from Amphoe Muang.

This is otherwise called Rong Hin Tak and is located at Doi Phaklong 18 kms. from Phrae. Coral Park Mountain was caused by the Earth's movement and up thrust with sculpting erosion over billions of years since the birth of the Earth. Location : Amphoe Long
not far from Kangluang is also a place of interest. Erawan Cave is regarded a wonderful place. To visit this cave, you must cross the Mae Yom River and go on foot, climbing up the mountains about 200 meters. It is like a wide hall with high ceiling and beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. One huge rock looks like the Erawan Elephant. Standing at the entrance of the cave, it is cool and comfortable. Apart from Kangluang and Erawan Cave, if we cross Mae Yom River and walk for 2 kms., there is a range of hilltribe villages. The fascinating hilltribe culture includes costumes, music dancing crafts and ghost gates. Location : Amphoe Long
is a large deep pond carved out by the Mae Yom River. It refills annually with monsoon overflow. The river hurls spray into the air as it strikes a rock hill mid stream. With a mountain background, it is a most scenic site. Location : Amphoe Long
Located at Doi Phaklong National Park office. It is a bare and wide area having many shapes of rock large and small (like lunar surface). There is a hall for relaxation and food shops for refreshments.

Huay Rong Waterfall
Location : Amphoe Rong Kwan
Huay Rong WaterfallThis attractive three-leveled large waterfall, is located in the area of Amphoe Rong Kwang on Phrae-Nan road 81 kms. from Amphoe Muang. Besides this waterfall, there are some others such as, Ngoen and Sao Wa waterfalls which are the favorites of tourists in general. Location : Amphoe Rong Kwan
Another interesting cave is Tham Pha Nang Khoi which is about 40 kilometres north of town on Highway No. 101 at Km. 59 within Rong Kwang district. A 50 metre-long rail leads to the cave mouth. Along the winding tunnels are strangely-shaped stalactites and stalagmites.

At the end of the cave is a stalagmite shaped like a woman holding a small child. In front of the Nang Koi (waiting woman) stone is a heart-shaped stalactite. They are the source of the legend of the love of a woman who waited for her lover until she turned into stone.

is a very beautiful island in the Mae Song Reservoir. Trees and grasses, that were submerged, became appropriated habitat for many species of Dragon-fly. The environmental beauty of water depths and upthurst hills is enhanced by the lovely roving dragon-flies. Location : Amphoe Long
Teenjok Weaving Cloth Villages A sandy beach which is above Kangluang, is the starting point to float a raft of logs down the Mae Yam River to Kangluang. Location : Amphoe Song
is the largest reservoir in Phrae. It is 12 kms. to the north of Amphoe Song. There is a very beautiful mixed decidious forest. The hills surrounding the reservoir are very scenic the highest hill is "Pha Pee Pha Nong", a prominent cliff at the edge of the peaceful, deep, clean and clear Mae Song Reservoir. The reservoir capacity is about 65.8 million of cubic meters. Location : Amphoe Song
Mae Yom National Park The Mae Yom National Park is in Song district 48 kilometres from town. The terrain is mountainous with deciduous and rich teak forests, probably the densest in the country. Along the Yom River in front of the camping area of the park are the Kaeng Sua Ten rapids, a two-kilometre-long stretch of rock formations and best visited during November-February when the weather is cool and the scenery at its loveliest. Visitors may camp along the river banks.

Location : Amphoe Song
is the important ancient remains in Amphoe Song. According to a legend, literary information, and archaeological evidence, it's inferred that Thart-Pra-Lor is the site where a great love was commemorated in funeral flames. Memorialized are the principal actor and actresses of the Thai literature, Li-Li-Pra-Lor, Pra-Lor and the two sisters, Pra-Puean and Pra-Paeng. Their love triangle ended with sadness the same as Shakespeare's literary Romeo and Juliet.
Location : Amphoe Sung Men
is 20 kms. from Amphoe Muang following to Phrae-Den Chai road. It is a big reservoir and especially, beautiful in the early morining when the sun is rising. Location : Amphoe Wang Chin
The Wiang Kosai National Park is about 70 kilometres from the provincial town in Wang Chin district. It can be reached by taking Highway No. 11 (Phrae-Lampang). Then take a left turn toward Wang Chin district and continue for a further 13 kilometres to reach the turn to the park headquarters. A further 1.5 kilometres onwards are two waterfalls, the Mae Koeng Luang, one kilometer from the headquarters, and the Mae Koeng Noi, 2 kilometres on foot further on. Streams from the falls flow into the Yom River.

which is a large waterfall with 7 levels and drops 213 meters from first to last level. Location : Amphoe Wang Chin
is a medium waterfall on the way to Hope a Forest. There is a Nature Study Camp site for up to 300 students and visitor accommodations. Kaeng Luang Rafting
Location : Amphoe Long
Near the A leading attraction, Kaeng Luang is located in Tambon Ban Pin, Long district. To get there, go on the Phrae-Lampang road for about 50 kilometres, then take a right turn at Km.69 and continue on for another 7 kilometres. The scenery is lovely and amid the Yom river are rocky formations which create fast-flowing rapids. On the other side of the river, which can be crossed by ferry, and with a 100-metre walk uphill, will be found the Erawan Cave adorned with elephant-and-female-shaped hanging and protruding crops of rock.
