Southern region is easily accessible via different means of transport such as by car, by bus, by train and by plane.

The region is connected with Bangkok via Phetkasem Highway and the train services also run from Bangkok through the region to Malaysia and Singapore. The region is also a home to 5 international airports and 6 domestic airports. It can be reached via 3 different routes to the main destinations; Chumphon, Surat Thani and Songkhla from Bangkok. The gate of the region is Chumphon province.

1. From Bangkok, take Highway No.4 or Highway No.35 to Highway No.4 through Petchaburi and Prachuab Khiri Khan. At Chumphon junction, turn left along Highway No.4001 for 8 kilometres to Chumphon town centre. The journey takes between 6 – 8 hours.
2. From Bangkok, take Highway No.4 to Chumphon via Phetchaburi and Prachuab Khirikhan and continue to Highway No.41 and No. 401 to Surat Thani.
3. From Highway No.4 from Bangkok through Prachuab Khirikhan and Chumphon and head to Highway No.41 via Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Phattalung then turn onto Highway No.4 to Songkhla.

Bus services run frequently from Bangkok to most provinces in the south. There are both state-run and private services. The main bus terminal is located at Southern Bus Terminal in Pin Klao, Bangkok. Some private companies are located in Khao San area in Bangkok.

Sleepers are available on express trains in 3 classes; first class, air-conditioned second class and non air-conditioned second class.
