Climate & Weather in Southern Region
Southern region of Thailand is influenced by the southwest and northwest monsoons. Phuket mountain chain and Nakhon Si Thammarat range blocks the southwest monsoon to reach the east side of the peninsula. The South experiences 2 seasons; rainy season which starts in May and ends in December and dry season starting January and lasts until April.

From January to August, the Gulf of Thailand enjoys the sunshine, in particular March and April which is the hottest period of the year. October is when the rainy season starts and last until January with frequent shower followed by the sunshine.

The Andaman Sea experience heavy rainfalls in September until October but the sunshine can be expected. From November until March is influenced by northeast monsoon resulting in mild weather. Even during the monsoon season, it does not rain everyday. The rains is quite short but dramatic and it is usually followed by the sunshine.
