Guide to Kanchanaburi

Kanchanaburi [กาญจนบุรี] is located 150 kilometers west of Bangkok. The way passes the historic town of Nakhon Pathom where the world's tallest Buddhist monument is located. The city of Kanchanaburi itself is a popular resort and is situated at the confluence of the two rivers Kwai Noi and Kwai Yai and the picturesque Mae Klong River. The city also serves as a base for tourists to explore the many attractions of the province, such as the famous 'Bridge on the River Kwai'. For nature lovers there are 7 national parks in the province with spectacular waterfalls, caves, river cruises and jungle tours. For the more adventurous there is an exciting 200 Km trail through jungle areas to the Myanmar border, and on the way you can visit the villages of ethnic Mon and Karen. Golf enthusiasts can try their hand at one of the golf courses that meet international standards.
